Rail Trail Adventure

TOUR INFORMATION

The Bikes Brews & Views tour is a 20-mile ride from start to finish with multiple stops/attractions along the way. The tour takes place along the Dutchess Rail Trail, which is a fully paved bike and walking path stretching from Hopewell Junction, NY to Highland, NY. The path is very flat and smooth, which makes it great for people of all ages and skill level.

The Tour commences from Leisure Ride Bike Rental, located at 266 Titusville Road, LaGrange, NY. Here, full day bike rentals are available for $35. Helmets are required (don’t worry, you are still cool in my book).

The guided tour group will then proceed northwest along the Rail Trail towards Highland, NY, which is located across the Hudson River (approximately 10 miles). This ride will take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the pace of the group and frequency of rest stops along the way. There will be time allotted for sightseeing and photos while crossing the Walkway Over the Hudson, which is the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the World (1.28 miles)!

There are two stops featured in Highland – (1) Underground Coffee and Ales for beer (and lunch if desired). (2) Hudson Ale Works for beer. More details regarding these stops is outlined below in the Tour Timeline infographic.

After your beers are enjoyed in Highland, the tour group will proceed back east (crossing the Walkway again) toward the Poughkeepsie area. An approximately 5 mile ride will bring us to Plan Bee Farm Brewery for some of the best Wild Ales in existence! The ride to Plan Bee does venture off the Rail Trail slightly, but only for roughly 0.50 miles of back country road (which is also fairly flat).

From Plan Bee – it is a short ride back to Leisure Ride Bike Rental. The total length of the tour is highly dependent on the biking pace of the group, but it typically spans anywhere from 4 to 6 hours.
